Turning a Blog Post into a Video with AI
A written article and a video script are different formats, even when they cover the same information — a post written to be read rarely sounds natural read aloud verbatim. This is a workflow for adapting one into the other, not just pasting text into a tool.
Step 1: Cut the post down before converting it
A 1,500-word article is too long for most short-form video. Identify the two or three points that actually matter for a video version and drop the rest — supporting detail that works in text (subheadings, bullet points, asides) usually just clutters a spoken script.
Step 2: Rewrite for spoken rhythm, not written structure
Break long written sentences into shorter spoken ones. Text that reads fine silently — nested clauses, semicolons, parenthetical asides — is hard to follow by ear. Read your rewritten version out loud before generating.
Step 3: Choose a voice that matches your channel’s tone
Article-to-video tools typically offer a large voice library. Pick one deliberately rather than the default — an overly formal voice on a casual channel (or the reverse) undermines the video before it starts.
Step 4: Add visual variety beyond the words on screen
A video that’s just text-to-speech over static slides tends to underperform. Break up the pacing with b-roll, screenshots, or simple graphics tied to what’s being said at that moment, rather than one visual for the whole video.
Step 5: Watch the full output before publishing
Automated pacing occasionally mistimes a cut relative to the voiceover — a visual changing half a second before or after the line it illustrates. This is easy to miss on a scrub-through and worth a full watch at normal speed.
