Why this directory exists
Search "best AI tools for creators" and you get 50-item listicles with invented five-star ratings and pricing copied straight from vendor marketing. This directory takes the opposite approach: show what a tool actually costs, what its free tier really allows, and whether the output can be used commercially — and be honest about how confident that information is.
How data is sourced and labeled
Every tool profile carries a clearly marked sourcing level:
- Official-info — pricing and features taken directly from the vendor's own pricing and terms pages.
- Community-sourced — compiled from third-party summaries when the vendor's own page couldn't be verified directly. These entries are flagged with a visible badge on the tool card and a banner on the profile, and individual figures that sources disagree on are hedged in place rather than presented as settled fact.
- Tested — reserved for tools that have actually been used hands-on.
The distinction matters because AI-tool pricing changes constantly. Where a number is uncertain, it is marked uncertain — not smoothed over.
No invented ratings
A tool only receives a quality score after real hands-on testing. Until then, its rating shows as "Pending" rather than a guessed number, and its pros-and-cons list stays empty rather than being padded with generic marketing claims.
